What are some memorable moments from your time on PSUB?
Hosting U-Sing in the Hall of Music and working with Jack McCarthy who was director at that time, weekend movies with DA or LY, painting signs in the basement, lunches and business after hours at Harry’s, Coffee Hours before football games and during Gala Weekend, ACUI conference, Homecoming activities, managing the offices of other student groups, and starting the Dale McHenry PSUBAA scholarship fund.
Advice for current students:
Enjoy your time of serving. Meet and get to know the people you are serving and working along side. Step out of your comfort zone. Do something that people would not expect out of you. Be thankful for a university like Purdue that is known the world over and that you can be proud of no matter where you will go.
How did being a part of PSUB help you throughout your career?
I was blessed to have a very diverse Senior Board. People like Jean, Kelly, Lynn, Nadine, Bruce, Mike and Pete. They were known by some other names but that will be left to another time. These people taught me to work together. To serve a common cause. We came from different backgrounds but wanted to work together to make PSUB better and make Purdue better. Such is life in the real world. There are always going to be people with different viewpoints, different means of accomplishing task and different temperaments. That is what makes life so much fun. Learn to adjust. Learn to get along. Learn from these different people.
In my work of being a financial representative and helping people with protecting and providing for their families and businesses, I have to realize that not everyone sees it like I do. Not everyone has the same priorities as I do. I must listen to learn what is important to them and find out what their goals and objectives are. Then I can recommend the products and services to help them accomplish what they want to.
You also have to learn how to lead people to help them accomplish their goals even when they might not know just how to get there. Many times people just do not know what they want or where they want to go. With my experience of 27 years in the financial service profession, I know many of the challenges and obstacles that lie ahead of people. By leading them, I can assist them to implement a financial program to get them where they want to be in 10, 20 or even 50 years. PSUB taught me how to lead a diverse group of people to accomplish much. I am blessed to have many of my senior board as friends that we keep in touch. If might be years in between the communications but it is amazing how we just pick up where we left off.

Favorite PSUB Memory:
My favorite PSUB memory has to be when we were working Fall Concert and all of us new members from Spirit and Traditions were laughing and singing along with Simple Plan and just bonded because we all got know each other and had so much fun.
